A special thanks to Zenny for putting together this large compendium of contributions that comprise the Mystic Star.
We thought to release this to show the group members and those beyond the group exactly the sort of things we get up to in our SL time.
I expect this to be an exciting year for the Academy with further growth and provision planned now that we have stabilised where we live. As you will see from the newsletter, this group as some amazingly gifted and talented people.

SPIRIT CITY SIM: STORY by MANON CLARY
How the Spirit City Sim came to be in the words of our beloved Manon.
First it was just an idea to get a sim, to have more room for the Mystic Academy. In reality it came in the night, when we had the bad griefer attack on the old place. That night we ordered the sim and did not realy know what to expect. It took about 4 weeks to decide, how the island shape should be, where the Academy goes, how much and which size on plots we would like to rent out. Was a bit like been thrown in cold water. We did need to learn a lot and are still learning, but it is amazing to see the changes the sim went through in about 8 weeks since it opened. The heart of Spirit City is the Academy and for sure all the lovely residents that came to live there. Everybody is working to give the island a nice look and we are very proud of all the fantastic projects, all the help and supports. Grey and Fire were the first starting to build a shop, that will be Mystic Bazaar now. I hope lots of vendors will place there stuff there, helping Grey and Fire running it. We have a wonderful garden there, you all should visit, Teak and StarRose made a wonderful place. Zena came to build one of her famous galleries. And there is lots more to discover, even in the sky. So all of you, take a bit time and find all the fantastic things on the sim. We still have three plots left to rent out one 512 qm and two 2048 qm. If you are also interested to leave on our sim please contact us. The conveants and the rent prices you find on the landing point.
What else should be sayed, hope all work out in a good way and Spirit City will stay as peacful community. Special thanks to MA and all our residents, you did great work, lets keep on going like this.

I am a beginning student of knowledge on the path of Ilm al-tasawwuf, also known as 'Irfan, Ihsan, or simply as Sufism. I am not an initiate and certainly not a shaykh (spiritual guide), but rather am a professional author and storyteller.
I also teach morality and ethics. I offer limited spiritual advice to seekers on the path or those just needing realignment. I am not offering formal consultation at this time. Come visit me at Bayt-al-Hikmah in Spirit City.

ZENA ZEMLJA
In real life I am a dutch woman, age 46 years. I worked as a health professional and care provider, mainly with women and children. I developed and guided classes and workshops to help people get their life on track, specially young people. I educated myself in a mystic and spiritual way of life for over 20 years now, but actually I’m taking this journey already all my life, as I was a spiritual child, always asking lots of questions, always searching for answers.
I am not bound to any religion, I believe all Gods and Goddesses are One. I like to call myself an Eclectic Solo White Witch. Eclectic because I like to study on all that is there, and keep what I feel is meant for me. Solo because I never joined any coven. White because I believe in white magic, which I believe is something we all have inside us. Witch because I believe in the wise words of the Wiccan Rede: An It Harm None, Do As Thou Will.
I have a degree in education and I love to teach. I hope to meet you in one of my classes.

Here at Mystic Academy I have taught several subjects including Wicca, History of Witchcraft, Past Life Exploration, and Astral Projection. I will soon begin a series on Wicca.
I can do Wiccan Handfastings in SL for those interested. I also do handfastings in RL and am an ordained minister with legal credentials. I am a Wiccan HPS and have been HPS of several RL covens. I am a member of several Yahoo Wiccan groups, member of the Florida Pagan Alliance, and a member of the Witchsvoice.

ELBORATH GELFAND
I have a background in general and psychiatric nursing and am trained in hypnosis, psychotherapy, and NLP. I have widespread experience in counselling and have worked extensively with adolescents – an area which also honed my ‘agony aunt’ skills! I am registered with the General Hypnotherapy Council in the UK. I have had considerable teaching experience and have a Certificate of Health Education (a teaching certificate but with a bias towards health education).
I am currently working towards a degree in psychology with the Open University.
Within the academy I teach the occasional class – so far self help with EFT an introduction to Transactional Analysis and Gestalt Dream Analysis. I have other ideas in the pipeline!
I’m available to talk to people about the work of the academy or to show them around. And if anyone would like someone to talk to in confidence please IM me.

In real life, I started to study astrology when only 13. Have been reading Birth Charts (basic astrological study of an individual) since I was 15. My mentor in Caracas, Glenda Bacile, took me at age 23 and taught me for 3 years. Altogether, I comprise more than 15 years of experience already in this field. Although it is not my main profession in RL, I keep it as a very active hobbie, and I now have some selective clients.
After hearing so many times from my friends that I should live upon this, I decided to give it a try to SL, as the beta test of what could be in RL for me.

Lailu Loon has worked with the tarot, astrology and numerology for over 25 years. She has written a play on the tarot, and wrote/performed CYCLES OF BECOMING, an astrological musical, for the Washington State Astrology Association. Her latest project is the design and manufacture of DOGNOSTICATION CARDS: two interfaces are now available on SL (normal and kink version); and a hard copy deck available at www.thesanitypatrol.com. She takes a pragmatic Jungian approach, celebrating archetypal symbolism and self actualization.
Prognostication & Oracles class/discussion will focus on symbolic languages used for prognostication, usingtarot, astrology, numerology, runes and Kaballah. We’ll talk and do some hands on experiments. All levels of expertise are welcome to come and explore. A fun time guaranteed by all.

SPECIAL PLACES IN MYSTIC ACADEMY
If you haven't explore the new castle yet, this article tells you a little about the treasures you will find here.
You might have known that the Mystic Academy is a majestic and beautiful castle that sits on 17,408 square meters of land in the Spirit City sim.
What you might not know is that it is a wonderful resource of information and has four floors, including a rooftop!
What is on the first floor? - An original and attractive calendar which lists upcoming events at the academy by month. There is also a mystical community info board, a gallery database of staff with information, an extensive library on every imaginable mystical topic, and comfy couches where people can usually be found lounging!
The second floor contains a hall / banquet room, and a beautiful, asian-style meditation room.
The third floor houses a meditation room with a deity of the week statue, lovely aquamarine meditation cushions, and no disruptions tolerated. There is also a lounge / meeting room on the same floor.
The fourth floor is a Sanctuary room with candles to be lit and prayers/mantras to be said... perfect for those moments when you need a sanctuary.
There is also a lovely rooftop with more cushions, an observatory, a dancefloor, a gallery featuring mystical paintings, a treehouse, a garden, and a consultation getaway in the sky where you can also get an I Ching reading.
You can get to all of these places from the teleport hubs located everywhere throughout the Mystic Academy.

THE SULTAN IN THE CAVE
Lush green palm leaves swayed in the gentle breeze, shaking a single date loose from its birth home and tossing it into a tumbling descent. It splashed into the wooden bucket that had been so carefully placed under the tree by Faisal, the farmer. Faisal loved living in his tiny oasis town and loved, most of all, the seasonal harvesting of dates.
This year's dates were particularly plump and juicy. It was commonplace for Faisal to find a young boy balancing on the shoulders of other boys, trying to reach an afternoon snack on the hottest of summer days. If he caught them, he never passed up an opportunity to startle them, although he rarely punished the boys by denying them their hard-earned prize. “Help me harvest this year, and you can have as many dates as your little tummies can hold,” he would tell them.
Despite good looks, a decent living, and sufficient accommodations, Faisal had never married. His parents both died when he was young, and he had spent the early part of his life raising his two younger sisters, Zathiya and Lulliya, identical twins. At the time when our story joins them, Faisal was well into his twenties, and his sisters had just turned twelve a day prior.
Though Faisal was lenient with the occasional scavenging boy, he cringed at the thought of his little sisters venturing out into the dangerous desert of Tezentia. As such, they lived a mundane solitary life, having only each other to keep company, as well as the occasional snooping boy. But on that particular day, which was the hottest day of the summer, an elderly woman, drowning in the sea that was her wrinkled black garment, hobbled into their oasis with the aide of a curvy wooden cane.
To receive a visitor to the oasis was nothing new, but it was customary for travelers to ride camels or horses. The nearest city was at least 30 farsakhs away, a journey even a young athlete would not dare trek in midday, under the rays of the scorching summer sun. But there was an old lady, no less than eighty years old, showing no signs of fatigue as she inched ever closer to Faisal's two-story mud brick house.
“Lulliya!” Zathiya excitedly called.
“What is it? Why are you screaming at me?”
“Lulliya, you won't believe this!”

BAJI BOURJADE reads tarot, writes meditations, and gives the occasional talk on eclectic mystic subjects. She also leads the Mystic Bards writers' group. IM Baji for an appt. for a tarot reading or for a private guided imagery meditation session. Many different tarot layouts are offered and a notecard of the session will be provided afterward. In a private guided imagery session, she will use any imagery that is of special personal meaning and wind it into the meditation.

FAOILEAN ROSCA has been a psychic reader for over 30 years. She is a lifelong student of esoteric studies and Paganism and practices Filidecht, a path of poetic nature mysticism based in the Gaelic traditions of Ireland and Scotland. Her work in SL includes tarot and Ogam readings, spirit consultation, and energy healing. She is an experienced spirit worker and has studied the Siberian shamanic traditions of the Ulchi tribe of the Amur River area, as well as reconstrucing early Celtic approaches to spirit work.
RIAN HIRVI is an indigo child with psychic abilities. Since her 16th birthday, she worked with psychics and learned how to use psychometry. This is a way of psychic consulting with the use of an item that is owned by the person. She does readings in SL by using someone's RL picture. The picture helps her to get in touch with someone's energy. She also uses tarot as a tool.

MYSTIC BAZAAR - UP AND RUNNING!

Mystic Academy has seen many new changes within the last 3 months, but then that comes as no surprise to many of us whom have seen it’s growth over the last year. The concept of a store for MA has long been intact and it began in Rydal with Dragon Shichiroji (Director and Founder of Mystic Academy). A year later, a new sim and members that have grown from a handful to over 1300, MA still has a store. The new sim has seen many changes.. But the spirit of Mystic Academy lives on in everyone.
Greywolf Frye approached the concept of MA store with a new twist, offering major fashion designers the opportunity to put their vendors in MA with a percentage of sales to go to Mystic Academy while at the same time keeping that opportunity available to MA members, whom themselves are very creative individuals.
In the beginning Grey put a store in that we felt really didn’t match the theme of MA. After talking to Dragon we decided to build a store that was more in tune with the surrounding area and with MA’s ideas. Greywolf called in Cobra Briggs (owner and builder of Cobra Enterprises, Builder of Wharf Mall at Fairchang Isles and whom works for Fairchang Isles) to design and build a new store for Mystic Academy.
The new Store was designed as a castle, and we have had many nice compliments. If you haven’t visited it yet please feel free to do so, there is space still available for vendors if anyone is interested, the only requirement is a 20 percent of sales donation to MA paid to Dragon Shichiorji. Greywolf and Firestaar donate 50 percent of sales to MA.
Many thanks to Manon Clary without you we wouldn’t have this new sim. Many thanks to Dragon without you there would be no Mystic Academy, to all the Guides who share their time and experiences with others. NOTES ON NUMEROLOGY by MIYAM LETOV
An introduction to the breadth of information you can get through numerology. Look for a more complete article from Miyam in the Mystical Goodies book in the library.
NOTES ON NUMEROLOGY
Numerological Analysis is as complex as rendering an astrological chart.
A full numerological chart encompasses a full core trait analysis with extrinsic modifiers that interact with the core elements. Further, each of the core elements interact with one another and it is only through a detailed study of the core and the modifiers that a true picture of the subject emerges.
Take astrology, for example. Below is the basic description of an Aries:
An Aries is a great organizer that is full of flair and originality. They are a dynamic individual, who is never afraid to take chances. They are intuitive and articulate with the capacity to inspire others especially in projects, which have a clear outcome and do not require a long lead-time. They are natural leaders and can rally others to their cause regardless of how impossible it may seem. Aries are aggressive and willful. They are a determined fighter and can be a powerful adversary if you oppose them strongly. Aries are unconcerned about how others may see them and will be the first to stand up in what they believe in – if they believe in it strongly.
The above description is accurate, but will not yield a complete picture of an individual without looking at a full astrological chart, which encompasses the primary sign, the rising sign, the position of the planets in each of the houses and the aspects at the time and location of the individual’s birth.
The same is true of numerology. While the Life Path and Expression comprise 70% of the core, they must be viewed together along with the other core elements and any extrinsic modifiers such as karmic debts, intensity points and the growth number. It is only when these elements are viewed together that any real determination can be made.

And that’s not all the art at Mystic, because you will also find a Spiritual Art Gallery at the Mystic Bazaar Store (Landmark in newsletter). There is even a project now to make the dungeon in the castle an art gallery too. To find the dungeon, just walk in the front door of the castle and click on the floor. It will open for you.

The thinking behind this is that with the growing number of ‘spiritual’ groups in SL has come a need to network among them. The hub started as a way of enabling people to easily view ‘spiritual’ options and give them access to information about each group together with a landmark.
Inputting this information into the hub is a time consuming business, and at present contains probably only a hundredth of the groups that are out there.
However as this progressed Spiritual Networking an idea was born that maybe the hub or something like it could also be a communications vehicle between the different ‘spiritual’ groups – displaying perhaps the 6 or so latest pieces of information, or events and so on with a link to a central website for the full information. This would entail siting (as a gift) an infohub at the location of all interested groups and would also necessitate the ability to update them all simultaneously from a central point. We have set up a group: Spirit Hub group for scripters and builders with a view to developing the hub along the lines outlines above. Anybody reading this who has skills in these areas please contact Elborath Gelfand or Dragon Shichiroji. The work we are doing is to benefit all of the ‘spiritual’ groups in SL.
Mystic Academy is not the only group who have been thinking about networking between us all however. Several groups have had similar ideas and the guys over at Spirit Mountain have started developing an information hub of their own. It seems crazy to have several groups spending lots of time and effort to what is a common goal. However Nina Lancaster has set up an ‘umbrella group’ called Spiritual Leaders group and despite not really coming under the heading of a ‘Spiritual Leader’ as such has allowed me to join the group because of my work on the hub. Dragon, of course, is a member.
The establishment of that group makes it easier for us to liaise with each other and pool our efforts.
So it is very much a ‘watch this space’ situation. Everyone will be updated as we progress. But again if there is anyone who can help us in this project please contact us. We have many highly skilled people in SL – having as many as we can of them working with us to develop this would be wonderful.

Sharpen those pencil's folks! (Yeah, like anyone uses pencils anymore!) The Mystic Academy Library is now hosting a monthly writing competition. Each month you will get a prompt for your piece, which will be due the last day of that month. To submit your work, just come to the Mystic Library and drag your entry to the box that says "Writing Competition". There is no fee to enter.
You can respond to this with poetry, prose, short story, narrative, or something previously undefined. The maximum length is 500 words. The top three entries will receive L$50 each and all top entries will be published in our Mystic Library.
